Paris Saint-Germain chief, Thomas Tuchel, has said Neymar didn’t know whether he was prepared against St Etienne, so he chose to rest his star striker.
Neymar was in the stands as PSG won 4-0, on account of objectives from Julian Draxler, Edinson Cavani (punishment), Angel Di Maria and Moussa Diaby.
Talking at a post-coordinate public interview, Tuchel clarified the Brazilian’s nonattendance.
“Neymar and I talked on Thursday. I disclosed to him that he was not going to play and that he couldn’t prepare. Be that as it may, Neymar felt better and participated in the entire session.
“That night, he was not able rest. I asked Neymar at 10 GMT on Friday how he was, and his answer was ‘I don’t have a clue.’ When he disclosed to me that, it was an alert in my mind.
“Neymar played a hour and a half on Wednesday with Brazil, so I would not like to go out on a limb. Together, we concluded that he would not play,” Tuchel said.
PSG’s No. 10 is relied upon to be back for the Champions League Group C opener away at Liverpool one week from now.
