The Benue State Government has affirmed the receipt of N14.9 billion last tranche of the Paris Club refund from the Federal Government.
Gov. Samuel Ortom, who made the affirmation, said 80% of the funds will be utilized for payment of salaries, benefits and gratuities.
Tever Akase, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor in an announcement said the Ortom has set up an advisory group headed by the Deputy Governor, Engineer Benson Abounu to work out modalities for quick payment of the funds.
“Likewise on the board of trustees are the Head of Service, Finance Commissioner, Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adviser on Labor Matters, Chairmen of Nigerian Labor Congress, Trade Union Congress and Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Benue State sections.
“The choice of Governor Ortom to include enter partners in payment of the Paris Club discount is in accordance with his arrangement of straightforwardness and responsibility,” Akase said.
It will be reviewed that the Governor also made open the receipt and dispensing of the N12.7 billion first tranche and N6.4 billion second tranche of the Paris Club discounts individually.
