The police have captured a customs officer for shooting a driver at Iya-Afin check- point, Badagry, on Wednesday.
Police sources told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry that the customs officer (name witheld) purportedly shot the casualty at the right arm since he declined to stop for a check.
As indicated by the source, the driver, who was originating from Seme Border, declined to stop at the check point and the officer opened fire which hit him at the right arm.
“Companions and relations of the casualty who were near, assembled the general population to assault the officer and it nearly deteriorated into turmoil,” a witness said.
Be that as it may, SP Samson Akinromen, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Badagry, instantly visited the scene and requested the capture of the customs officer.
“The officer was taken to Badagry Police Station while the casualty was raced to an obscure health’s facility for treatment,” the source said.
Some of the relatives of the casualty who visited the police station were informed that the case had been transfered to Police Area “K” Command at Morogbo.
Saidu Abdullahi, Seme Border Customs Spokesman, said the occurrence was yet to be accounted for to the order.
