Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi has talked on his visit to the Abeokuta living residence of the previous President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Gumi was found in a photograph with Obasanjo, Bishop Mattew Kukah and previous VP and presidential applicant of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar.
Talking at Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna on Friday, Gumi clarified that the visit was in accordance with the teaching of Islam as he is following the convention (Sunnah) of Prophet Mohammed.
“Prophet Muhammad once said he would happily respect welcome to intervene even between non-Muslims”, the cleric said
“Each Muslim requested to intercede in peace accord among Muslim and Muslim or Christian and Muslim or Christian and Christian, he ought to go.
“Just pagans preached and promote enmity. Once our pioneers are in peace, ideally the country will be in peace.
“Previous President Obasanjo looked to accommodate with his previous representative (Atiku Abubakar). All of you know there is no adoration lost between them.
“One of the conditions laid for the compromise was that people who are unbiased ought to be named as middle people.
