The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that Sen. Shehu Sani remained its solitary senatorial hopeful from Kaduna Central.
The Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Yekini Nabena, gave the elucidation in a meeting with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday.
He said Sani was the main senatorial competitor from the zone that was properly perceived by the national body.
Sen. Shehu Sani had removed himself from the primary race held in the state on Saturday, where he was said to have lost to Special Adviser to Gov. Nasir El-rufai on Political Affairs, Malam Uba Sani.
The Returning Officer of the primary held at Murtala Muhammed Square, Kaduna, Prof. Eddie Floyd-Igbo, announced Uba Sani, a Special Adviser to Gov. Nasiru El-Rufa’i, as the winner with 2,088 votes, while Shehu Sani accumulated just 15 votes.
Another adversary, Usman Ibrahim-Sardauna, was said to have anchored just 129 votes.
Nabena, in any case, emphasized that, “to the extent Kaduna Central Zone 2 is concerned, the main applicant is Sen. Shehu Sani.
“Indeed decision occurred in that zone on account of the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly yet for the senatorial position, the main competitor is Sen. Shehu Sani.
“The kaduna state governor can’t dictate to the party.”
